2012 Ongoing and Completed Delta
conveyance & construction projects
Those of us who live and work in the Delta see the construction going
on...while others talk about a new Delta Plan, and we're supposed to
have an opportunity to comment and perhaps suggest a better way to
protect our land and water rights and the environment, too, the projects
are already being built. Sections of the CALFED "Preferred
Alternative" through-Delta canal and also sections of a canal & tunnel
system around the Delta are being constructed now. Ignore the
names of the various projects and look at their FUNCTION...like the
Folsom South Canal that will divert water that used to flow into the
Sacramento River, and the Natomas Intake & fish screen, and the Empire
Tract intake, and the Yolo Bypass levee modifications....its all
happening now. Below are some links to reference documents and
photos of the ongoing construction, or website "print screens" of the
project details that are alread completed. The Bay Delta
Conservation Plan may be behind schedule but the CONVEYANCE part of the
plan is being built before our eyes and it will have the capacity to
divert all Sacramento River water away from the Delta should DWR decide
to do that...if you want to go to the planning documents, there are
links to the main documents below:

Accroding to the contractor the Folsom South Canal is more than just
flood control... click to see enclargement! Below are website
"screen prints" from the construction of various new intakes that will
divert more water from the Sacramento River & Delta...the one on Empire
Tract is still under construction as is the one near the Sacramento
Airport. Forget the names and look at the FUNCTION of the
construction project...and take a look at what is already built and
ready to operate if not already operating...
1945 flood control plan looks like the 1012 plan map, doesn't it?
