Bottom line: people outside the Delta region
want more water than the Delta can provide most water years. Whether
by canals, tunnels or "conveyance" the goal is to divert Sacramento River
water that would normally flow through the Delta, and send that water
elsewhere. Below are maps and documents that show elements of the
latest "conveyance" plans which might include canals, tunnels and use of
existing waterways for "restoration" activities that are really just part of
the conveyance objectives. The planning process for these documents
and maps probably reflect over $6,000,000,000 in tax payer funded studies.
There are thousands of documents on this particular issue, so go to the

to see most of those documents from the last 10 years of planning. Sections of the CALFED "Preferred Alternative"
conveyance
plan for a central canal
have already been
built, and some are "shovel ready" and awaiting approval from the
Delta Stewardship Council as an
"interim action" of the New Delta Plan. See All
