DWR's and out-of-Delta Wish List for Delta "restoration" projects

The map below came from a 2010 DWR-sponsored website.  Once page is fully built, you will be able to click on the different islands to see the proposed plans for those particular islands or areas of the Delta.  However, note that many of the farmers and other land owners do NOT want to give up their land to the state and do NOT want to become tule farmers and do NOT want to allow the state to permanently hinder boating navigation on waterways that have been open to navigation since California became a state.  If the central canal near term construction moves forward, and is completed by 2012 as planned, much of the fresh water areas of the Delta will become much more salty, which will necessitate revision of the ecosystem in those areas.  The other problem is that restoration takes $$$$$!  Does any sane person in California think the proposed bond will pass?      "Don't Drain the Delta!"  (page under construction-check back 6/1/2010)
