A look at the effect of adding Yolo Bypass flows to Sacramento River
flow calculations
Until just two years ago, the flow on the Yolo Bypass was NOT included
in Sacramento River flow calculations for determining percent or actual
exprots from the Sacramento River. The proposed changes which
would count Yolo Bypass flow as if it physically flows past the I-Street
bridge gage (not physically possible) will result in the allowance of
additional export of Sacramento River water...water that physically does
not exist. The end result will be the robbing of the fresh water
flow of the historic waterways of the Delta...Steamboat Slough, Sutter
Slough, and the portion of the Sacramento River below Georgiana Slough
to Rio Vista, once referred to as "Old River" or the main stem of the
Sacramento River. For the documents and references used in
this presentation, please go to
this page, opened in a different screen if you want to view the
documents and the video at the same time. The map can also be
clicked on for a larger version. Note also there are 100+ years of
Sacramento River flow that can be reviewed from the many maps and
referenced documents starting
here. And note the statement by another state agency regarding
inappropriate inconsistency.....
