$8 billion more revenue per year over the last 10 years....
According to the data provided by the Delta Stewardship Council,
from 2000 to 2009 for the decated total, water exports from the Delta
increased to 54 million acre feet compared to the previous decade where
the exports were 47 million acre feet.
In other words, during a "drought" time period, exports were increased.
During a time when the fish populations of the Delta were greatly
declining, the exports were increased.
During a time when invasive aquatic species has been taking over the
shallow areas of the Delta, severely hampering navigation in some areas,
and reducing natural aquatic habitat areas for native fish, the exports
were increased.
What is the market value of the extra 7 million acre feet to the water
exporters? At least $8 billion per year!
What is the market value to the water exporters of counting the Yolo
Bypass flows as if the water actually flows past Sacramento I Street
bridge gage or past Freeport? $1.4 Billion per year! (see
video re Yolo Bypass)
